Masterplan and options appraisal prepared for West of Scotland Housing Association in conjunction with South Lanarkshire Council, for the regeneration of the Fernhill area, to re-provision 300 homes, as well as commercial and community facilities.

Phase 1 was the first phase of re-provisioning for the regeneration of Fernhill, allowing existing residents to be rehoused and flats to be demolished. Phase 1 delivers 62 newbuild energy efficient homes, providing a mix of cottage flats, semis and small terraces on a topographically challenging site.

The masterplanning process involved extensive community consultation, using one-to-one meetings, street interviews, community events and newsletters. Design charettes with the local community and stakeholders helped to shape proposals, to ensure the delivery of a sustainable design for the area. A focus group was set up to work with the design team helping to make key design decisions throughout both the masterplan and subsequent phases of development.
